Price Electric, a leading commercial and manufacturing electrical contractor, was sought out to help a stalled construction project by installing all of the electrical systems for a new multi-million dollar, 65,000-square-foot addition for a major university in Iowa.
CHALLENGEThe general contractor faced conflicts with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and was running behind schedule. The project was in a congested work area and had to be completed in a three-month time frame.
OUR APPROACHEnable the client to see and correct any potential conflicts with mechanical or plumbing systems and modify the parts as needed in the virtual environment, minimizing time spent in the field.
SOLUTIONTrimble® SysQue® lets users design in Revit with real-world, manufacturing-specific content that’s ready for fabrication. Once designed in SysQue, the parts would be prepared for fabrication in their controlled facility.
“With help from technology such as SysQue, we are able to demonstrate our expertise, optimize our labor resources, and deliver solutions faster, safer and with exceptional quality.”
- Daniel Johnson, Construction Manager and Virtual Coordination Manager, Price Electric
Because all parts were prefabricated, crews required less room for equipment staging in a tight and busy space with confidence that everything fit as it was designed. Also, there was zero scrap involved in the field.
