The construction trades have undergone an incredible shift in the last few decades, with advanced technology taking on an evermore important role in every aspect of a project's timeline and workflow. From 3D scanning and BIM-based design, to virtual reality and holographic imagery used in planning and inspection stages, it truly is an exciting time to be in the field.

At the same time, though, some industry practices haven't evolved quite as quickly. And, as a result, inefficiency seems to be constantly creeping in around the edges of successful construction projects. In an effort to protect already thin margins, every firm needs to consider creating efficiencies and streamlining processes if they want to remain competitive now and into the future.

Adopting newer technology can often be a powerful way to accomplish this. Let's look at one clear example of a process that too many construction companies are still carrying out in the traditional way, but that could be vastly improved with just a few simple and inexpensive technological advancements.
